Florida Greek Days
Florida Greek Days (FGD) are events where the entire Florida Greek community can come together and celebrate the four tenets of their community (service, scholarship, leadership, and community). Florida Greek Day Events include:
Brain Bowl
The IFC Brain Bowl is a scholastic competition where chapters within the Florida Greek community demonstrate their knowledge in the areas of science, literature, art, and music.
Florida Greek Service Day
Florida Greek Service Day, held each spring, is a day that members of the Florida Greek community contribute to the Gainesville and Alachua County communities. Each chapter is paired with at least another chapter and participates in various activities across the community.
Greek Advance
Greek Advance is the University of Florida s annual leadership retreat for presidents and council exec board members. The curriculum for Greek Advance is derived from values of the Florida Greek community scholarship, service, leadership, community and is designed to provide the leadership of the Florida Greek community with a 1 1/2 days of learning and self-discovery that will build upon their leadership abilities in the areas of organizational development, service, and community.
Greek Awards Banquet
The annual Greek Awards Banquet held in November was developed to recognize outstanding accomplishments by member and chapters within the Florida Greek community.
Greek Blood Drive
Held twice a year, the Greek Blood Drive is a competition among many of the fraternities and sororities in the Florida Greek community. The Blood Bucket is awarded to one sorority and fraternity for having the most donors as well as for the highest percentage of donors.
Greeks for Life
Greeks for Life is an annual community-wide barbeque that coincides with the end of the Greek Blood Drive in the Fall. This year event will also serve as a kick-off to homecoming.
MGC Showcase
The annual MGC Showcase is an opportunity for members of the University of Florida community to learn more about the MGC and each of its member organizations. This year s showcase will be held on Friday, August 28, 2006 in conjunction with Gator Nights.
